What's on a coaching card
The Goal
The idea your child is working towards, in one line.
Say This
Two to four questions to read aloud, word for word. They never give the answer away.
Listen For
What understanding sounds like, a likely mix-up, and how to respond to it.
Do This
One quick, hands-on activity with things you already have.
Watch Out For
The trap that catches most children on this topic.
Make It Fun
A game, a challenge, or a link to something they love, for when interest is low.
The Answer
Tucked away and just for you. The correct answer, plus what a great, good and getting-there explanation sounds like.
When it isn't landing
They're confused
The next try shows it a different way, with objects, a picture or a counterexample. After two goes, it suggests a short break instead of a third explanation.
They're frustrated
Coaching stops straight away. You get one simple way to reset, like a glass of water or ten star jumps, and permission to stop for today.
