Who we are

Who this service is for
gagagoose is for adults supporting a child in their care with primary school homework. Children do not use the service and do not have accounts.
What we collect
- A guest identifier. When you first open the app we create a random anonymous ID. No name or email is needed.
- Your email address, only if you choose to save your progress.
- Settings you give us: a label for your child (default "My child"), their year group, and anything you tell us about your school's methods.
- Homework photos and descriptions. Photos are stripped of location and camera data on your device before upload, stored privately and used only for that homework session, so the coach can look again if you ask a follow-up question. They are deleted as soon as you finish the session, and anything left over is removed automatically within 24 hours. We do not store photos in our database.
- Coaching history. The coaching cards you received and what happened next (for example "they got it" or "they're confused").
- A concept-level learning record. For each topic, a record of the evidence we've seen, such as "explained it independently" or "a mix-up was spotted". This lets future coaching build on what's been tricky before. This is a form of profiling. It is used only to personalise your coaching. It is never used for advertising, ranking, school admissions, or any other significant decision about a child.
- Product events. Structured records such as "session started" or "share tapped", used to understand how the service is used. These never contain the text or images of homework.
What we do not do
- We do not log or review the content of what parents type or upload as a matter of course. If we ever need to review real examples to fix quality problems, this is done through an explicit, logged, opt-in sampling process restricted to named admin staff.
- We do not sell data or use it for advertising.
- We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
Lawful basis
We process personal data under the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. We rely on performance of a contract to provide coaching you ask for, and legitimate interests for security, cost protection and understanding how the service is used in aggregate.
AI processing
Homework content is sent to an AI model provider to generate your coaching card. We send only what is needed for that request. We will describe the provider's retention terms honestly here and will not claim zero data retention unless it has been formally agreed.
How long we keep things
- Homework photos: deleted when you finish the session, and always within 24 hours.
- Guest accounts with no activity for 90 days: deleted automatically, with all associated data.
- Registered accounts: kept until you delete them. You can delete everything at any time from your account page.
Your rights
You can access, export, correct or delete your data, object to processing, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Export and delete are available in the app under Account. For anything else, email privacy@gagagoose.co.uk.
Where data is stored
Our database and file storage are hosted in the EU.
